Showing File Extensions

Step 1

Double click My Computer, and select Folder Options from the Tools menu (or choose Options from the View menu in Windows 95).

Step 2

Click on the View tab, turn off Hide MS-DOS file extensions for known file types, and press OK.

You will now be able to see the 3 letter associated file extension which is particularly useful in differentiating between similarly named files.
